Introducing FitForFood, the time of year when Fitbit donates the calories you burn to people who actually need those calories -- America's hungry. Our goal was a lofty 1 BILLION CALORIES.
We started by creating a site where people can sign up and track the program's progress.
Once you sign in with the Fitbit API, the program starts adding your calories to the goal, It displays a bunch of useful information about the overall goal, and how much you've contributed to the program. We made calories tangible by translating it into how many people you've feed or how many scoops of ice cream you've burned off / fed to the needy.
To get the word out, we got Joel McHale from Community and The Soup to rally the troops.
